6th Annual Surprise Fiesta Grande

The 6th Annual Surprise Fiesta Grande Event did not disappoint! We were honored to welcome two very special guests: Barry Wong from Governor Ducey’s office and Deputy Consul General of Mexico Armando Esparza. This festival was held at the Original Town Site and featured many wonderful forms of entertainment, including mariachi music and talented dancers. I enjoyed seeing so many families and children with smiles on their faces. This was a special celebration, indeed!

Day of Service

I was impressed to learn that 300+ volunteers helped at this October 19th event! There were many projects such as landscaping, painting and refuse removal. The city coordinates several Day of Service events throughout the year so please consider registering for a future event at 623-222-3241. Lunch is provided. We welcome all groups and ages!

We have some VERY exciting news to share! In early 2020, the City of Surprise and Maricopa County Library District will offer expanded hours at the Hollyhock Library! City Council approved funding to DOUBLE the weekly hours from 18 to 36 which will truly provide residents more access to a variety of library programs and resources. We continue to work on the new schedule, and I will share it with you as soon as it is finalized.

Veterans Day Events

This Veterans Day will bring a whole new point-of-pride to our community. Please join us on November 11th at 8 a.m. at the north entrance of Northwest Regional Library, 16089 N. Bullard, for the Veterans Reflection Circle Dedication. Thanks to dozens of individuals and companies that donated the time and materials, we were able to build a memorial to honor the legacy of late Surprise resident and combat wounded veteran Brian Mancini. And don’t miss the tradition of enjoying a Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. followed by the annual Veteran’s Day Parade on Bullard at 10 a.m.

HOA Meetings

I always enjoy meeting with residents in their neighborhoods. It is my continued goal to visit every HOA in my district on a frequent basis. If I have not yet visited your community, please contact me at 623.222.1300.
